Jason Penry

Dr. Jason Penry serves as a Senior Consultant for CSA Search & Consulting. As Senior Consultant, he brings a unique insight to the firm’s consulting practice and baseball coach search endeavors/practice. 

Professional Experience

Dr. Penry is the Founder of Penry Advisors, a consulting firm that seeks to maximize the university advancement/athletics fundraising partnership potential. He is also the founder of the Surefire Baseball Forum. Prior to his work in athletics consulting, Jason spent over a decade in university leadership as a chief advancement officer/vice president/vice chancellor at Arkansas State and Angelo State /Texas Tech System.

Education

Jason holds his Ph.D. in higher education administration from Texas A&M University. He earned a master’s degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and a bachelor’s degree from LSU-Shreveport, where he served as student body president and was a letterman on the baseball team. 

Recognition and Service

Jason currently teaches graduate-level courses at Texas A&M and his research interests include the analysis of the largest philanthropic gifts in college athletics history and bias in the hiring of coaches. Jason served as chair of the board (2019-2020) for the College Baseball Foundation, which governs the National College Baseball Hall of Fame. Additionally, Jason’s family has demonstrated dedication to the philanthropic sector by creating five scholarship endowments, including two for college athletics.

Jason resides in College Station with his wife and stepchildren.
