Dr. Randy Woodson serves as a Senior Consultant for CSA Search & Consulting. As Senior Consultant, he brings a wealth of leadership experience and expertise to bear in the firm’s recruitment of senior academic administrators.
Previous Experience
Dr. Woodson recently concluded his 15-year tenure as Chancellor of North Carolina State University, the largest university in North Carolina, overseeing tremendous growth in research funding, student success, student demand, as well as rankings and reputation. An internationally renowned plant molecular biologist specializing in reproductive processes in agricultural crops, he has a 40-plus year career in higher education. He began his career as a professor at Purdue University, where he assumed increasing responsibilities during his 25-year tenure, ultimately serving as Executive Vice President and Provost.
Education
Dr. Woodson holds a B.S. degree in Horticulture from the University of Arkansas, and a M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in plant physiology from Cornell University.
Recognition and Service
Dr. Woodson has extensive experience serving on key national boards, including serving as Chair of the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities Board and member of the Research Triangle Park Board of Directors. He recently concluded several years of leadership within the NCAA, having served on the Board of Governors and Division I Board of Directors, in addition to the Transformation Committee and the Subcommittee on Congressional Engagement and Action.
Personal
Dr. Woodson resides in Raleigh, NC with his wife Susan, a painter, and their two demanding dogs.
